How I Work

Some solopreneurs and small businesses who are new to working with an Internet services professional may have questions about how I work with clients to accomplish their goals.

Here’s a few things you should know about I approach and execute projects:

I perform all project tasks personally. If something is needed that is outside my area of expertise, I will refer you to a great resource. I don’t subcontract your project.

The best way to communicate with me is email. Scheduled phone calls are great, too.

I’m a stickler for flexibility and efficiency. If I think something is not worth your time or money, I will tell you! A perfect example are email newsletters – they should look great, of course, but they should also be easy for you or your VA to replicate and edit for future issues. This assures that you won’t hate working on future newsletters—and that they’re readable across both desktop and mobile formats and end up in the in-box, not the spam folder. Keeping them narrow, simple and clean is your best approach.

I don’t do “project drift”. New blogsite and redesign projects often fall victim to this problem. I’ve seen this more times than I can count. Waiting on one more change, one more page, the graphic from the other designer will waste time, delay your progress, and push your project off-track. Don’t forget—this is the web… you can always make future changes and additions instantly, at any time! I suggest having at least 90% of your text and photo content ready to go before starting on a new website (or redesign). When you sign to do a packaged project, it goes on the schedule and is delivered on time.

If you need help getting your project plan together, or just need some guidance along the way, I offer phone consulting and short-term support services. Purchase time in advance and use it for whatever you need help with such as consulting or other services.
